Sometimes real gems come from the depths of Kickstarter and developer Concrete Realm has decided to put their first project – ENDS – on the platform. Inspired by franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and The Getaway, the London-based studio hopes to create an authentic representation of the English capital, with an accompanying grim story.
Speaking to Insider Gaming, the studio says that many developers have failed to translate the core of the capital into a digital world. With this project, they want to fill that gap. ENDS features an original story with three protagonists: Rahim, Sonny and Reece. On top of that, RPG influences are present, and your choices – according to the developer – will affect how this story will play out.
It is hoped that the Kickstarter about €11,000 and the investment round will close on December 27.
‘We felt that many AAA game developers couldn’t quite capture the authenticity of London as we could. We’ve noticed that recent UK titles like the new season of Top Boy and Blue Story faced criticism for not fully delivering an authentic experience, and we believe ‘ENDS’ can fill that gap. This project is a passion project for us, and we’ve discovered that many others share our enthusiasm for it. It’s a game designed by and for the people, aiming to provide a truly authentic London experience.’
