BioWare hasn’t done anything public with the Mass Effect franchise for quite some time, but every once in a while, it shows a sign of life. However, the developer has the focus on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which in all likelihood won’t be released until next year at the earliest. In addition to that project, a new Mass Effect game is also quietly being worked on, of which a recent Teaser was dropped.
However, those hoping for an official reveal soon following the teaser will be disappointed. During the Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Morning podcast/show, Jeff Grubb and Tamoor Hussain of the site shared that Mass Effect will not be released before 2029. Both have their own sources for that. Grubb in particular is known as an insider and the fact that his statement is confirmed by Hussain gives it some value.
Below you can read an excerpt from the show in which both gentlemen spoke about this.
Grubb: “You want some original reporting? This game is just nowhere near coming out. I was told that when they revealed Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2018, this is similar in terms of timeline. That was announced in 2018 and we’re not getting that game until maybe next year. So now do the math for that, and we’re talking 2029 for Mass Effect 5.”
Hussain: “I’ve heard some things as well, and this game is so far away. It is so far in another galaxy right now.”
