The development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is becoming a bit of a strange story. After the grand announcement, development turned out to be quite difficult and the necessary rumors about the shutdown surfaced, especially after moving the game to another developer and more.
Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors, which includes Saber Interactive who is now said to be working on the game, refuses to comment about the state of affairs and last weekend you could read that journalist Jeff Grubb said that development has come to a complete standstill.
From journalist Jason Schreier, however, we hear different sounds. He gives up ResetEre that he has heard from two Saber Interactive employees that they are still working on the title there. However, he does ask the question whether the game will still be released and in what form?
“‘Is it alive?’ and ‘Will it ever actually come out?’ are two very different questions. A third is ‘If it does ever come out, what will it actually look like?’ That said, I’ve talked to two people at Saber who both say they’re still currently working on it, so I don’t believe that the comment that it isn’t being worked on “in any way” right now is true.”
In short, the project is apparently not completely doomed after all, but it is not the case that it is really going well either.
